| the dreaded valentine's day is near. it would be nice to have a valentine on valentine's day. but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. it would be nice if things had turned out differently. but they didn't turn out differently, so i guess i'll just keep logging onto xanga so i can bitch and moan about it. i hate when people try to make someone feel better by saying "it wasn't meant to be..." or any of that candy coated bullshit. that stuff usually makes me feel worse. i was gonna write more. but now i don't feel like it. -jacob.

| | Currently Match Point By Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emily Mortimer, Matthew Goode, Alexander Armstrong see related | sometimes i watch a film and it inspires me to become a better filmmaker. i love making movies, but sometimes i doubt my abilities. i worry that i'll just become one of the hundreds of people who attempt a career in film, and fail miserably and die alone and broke. or that i'll get stuck making car commercials the rest of my life. but then, i'll see a film that is so damn good that i just want to start filmming something right then. it makes me want to push myself harder so that, maybe someday, i could make something as good. i watched Woody Allen's Matchpoint for the first time tonight and it blew my mind. i love Woody Allen films (if you haven't seen any, then you haven't lived, and are no friend of mine). but this film was SO DAMN GOOD. i wanted to stand up and cheer. it made me want to run into my room, type up a screenplay, start shooting, edit, and show it to everybody. man, i fucking love filmmaking. other films to make me feel this way: Raging Bull No Country For Old Men Fargo Notorious Rushmore The Man Who Knew Too Much Dog Day Afternoon Ed Wood Aguirre, Wrath of God Sweetie The Dark Knight Catch Me If You Can and many more...

| what an amazing election day. this is the first time in six years that i have been truly and overwhelmingly proud to be an American. obama's acceptance speech sent shivers down my spine. finally, hopefully, this country can once again be united. i can be pessimistic about a lot of things, but i am so excited and optimistic about an Obama administration. i pray that he can unite this country and bring credibility back to the US. the times are a' changin' remember folks, let's put all this silly partisanship behind us. it's the dawn of a new era. there are no red states. there are no blue states. there is only the United States.

| hello party people. it's been awhile. life has been muy busy. school and filmmaking as usual. in case you hadn't heard, i freaking love filmmaking. i just can't believe that not everyone wants to work on films. yes, it's hard work, but it's amazing to see all that work come together and pay off. i just finished shooting my senior capstone film. it's called The Man Who Forgot, and it's awesome. i say this humbly, of course. i should have a trailer posted in the next few days. editing is tedious, but it is very rewarding. it's like putting the final pieces of the puzzle together, and the picture looks just like the box! i have until december 1st to finish editing, sound editing, music, etc. when i watch my most recent films, it blows my mind that just two years ago i was making crappy 2 minute horror movies on a sony handicam. now i'm making 20 minute films with a $3000 camera, a fisher dolly, a jib arm, actors, a crew, and in HD. anyways, it's been a stressful few weeks, but very rewarding in the end, and hopefully will just get better from here. thanks for listening.
-thejacob. ps. what an unusual post...
